A good espresso is much more than just coffee: it's an art that takes precision, technique, and passion. At Café Pista, every espresso shot is an opportunity to reveal the richness and depth of the coffee origins we carefully select. But with a few tips, you can also recreate that magic at home and transform your morning routine.

1. Measure carefully
L'balance starts here. Use the right amount of coffee for your portafilter basket. If it's too full, the coffee will be difficult to tamp and extraction will be uneven. Too little, and your espresso will be under-extracted, with a watery texture. Find that sweet spot where the coffee is well compacted, but not packed too tightly.

2. Master the extraction time
An espresso is made in seconds. L'ideally, extract for about 25 to 30 seconds to achieve a rich, complex brew. If you go too fast, the flavors won't have time to develop: you risk coffee that is too acidic or bland. Too slowly, and you'll get bitter, over-extracted coffee.
3. Control the volume in the cup
The optimal volume is between 30 ml and 45 ml of espresso. At our locations, we use a 1:2 ratio for our extractions, ensuring a harmonious balance between strength and subtlety. Each cup thus tells the story of the meeting between the bean's origin and our expertise.
4. Crema: the hallmark of a successful espresso
A perfect espresso always comes with a beautiful layer of crema, that golden foam that reveals freshness and quality. To make the most of it, nothing beats freshly ground coffee just before extraction.
Pro tip: freshly ground coffee will offer more intense flavors and, for espresso, a delightful crema.

With these tips, turn your coffee routine into a true tasting experience. Stop by one of our locations to learn more and enjoy a perfectly crafted espresso.
