Some coffees naturally stand out on the cupping table. That is exactly what happened with Jesús Mariano Nolasco’s coffee during our trip to Honduras in April, at Hubert and Merlin Nicolas’s cupping laboratory. But it was only after meeting Don Mariano and his son that we understood why: behind this coffee is a family with a deeply rooted commitment to the land and to quality. This relationship was made possible thanks to our importing partner, Honduran Coffee Alliance.

Since 1986, Don Mariano has devoted his life to coffee farming, having learned from his father that producing exceptional coffee requires discipline, consistency, and profound respect for the land. Today, every member of his family plays an active role on the farm, making Gosen Coffee a true family business. Located at 1,370 meters above sea level in Marcala, in the department of La Paz, Finca Gosen grows an impressive diversity of varieties: Catuaí, Parainema, Anacafé 14, Icatu, Geisha, Lempira, and IHCAFE 90, with a growing focus on biodiversity, notably through the planting of more than 300 shade trees to strengthen the farm’s sustainability and resilience.

This lot consists of the Anacafé 14 variety, processed naturally and patio-dried. The cherries are selected at full maturity, lot by lot, with each variety carefully separated to preserve the unique character of each coffee. This daily rigor earned the lot a score of 87 points during cupping.

Our coffees are roasted lightly to medium, to preserve all the aromatic complexity of the bean. A versatile profile that shines as much in espresso as in filter.
